Hoothoot used Hypnosis by Cronoan

Heather from the USA is a very dedicated artist and gamer who participated in more video game art collaborations than the most artists I met online. She is not only a part of the Game-Art-HQ Community since around 2014 and her submission to our 20th Anniversary of Super Metroid Tribute but also worked with musicians and video game music tribute album organizers. She also helped with a good couple of the Pokemon descriptions!

Have a look at her whole portfolio here please!

Hypnosis

“A hypnotizing move that may induce sleep.”

Hypnosis is a Psychic-Type move that has a 60% chance of putting the opponent to sleep. The duration to which the opponent is asleep from the effects of this move varies.

Because it is a non-damaging move with high accuracy; the effects are more effective in keeping the opponent asleep for long periods of time.

Hypno from Generation I was of course the first Pokemon using the Hypnosis move in this art collaboration!

Hoothoot used Uproar by Yggdrassal

Yggdrassal from the United States is an active part of the Game-Art-HQ Community since around three years now and contributed a good couple of video game artworks that are about games that are rarely getting any attention now.

He participated with a Timesplitters 3 entry as example and Rocket: Robots on Wheels as part of our Nintendo 64 Tribute this year. He joined the Pokémon Gen I Tribute with Dodrio in the first May week already and drew seven more of the little Gen I creatures. He also holds the record of the most submissions for our Gen II Pokemon tribute with not less than 11 of the 100 Pokemon being illustrated by him!

Gen II

Gen I

I recommend to check out his gallery where you can see a lot more video game fan art including more Pokémon love as well.

Uproar

“The user attacks in an uproar that prevents sleep for two to five turns.”

Uproar is a Normal-Type attack that causes damage for 2 to 5 turns; to which the user can use no other attacks until completed. It also wakes up Pokémon from Sleep status as well as prevent Pokémon from being afflicted with Sleep.

It is possible that if an opponent uses Yawn before the Uproar starts; it can still fall asleep.

Raticate and Hoothoot are the currently only Pokemon using the scary Uproar in our Pokemon Tribute!

#163 – Hoothoot

“It has a perfect sense of time. Whatever happens, it keeps rhythm by precisely tilting its head in time. “

Hoothoot is an owl-like bird Pokemon first introduced in Generation II. It evolves into Noctowl at Level 20. It is characterized by the hour hands surrounding its gigantic red eyes, and the feet which has fused into one big foot.

The owl’s body has a special organ that feels along with the Earth’s rotation; and thus has an extraordinary sense of time. It tilts its head in rhythm with the time almost like that of a metronome. So effective is this method that some Pokemon trainers use it in place of clocks and watches.

The Flying-type Johto gym leader, Falkner owns a Hoothoot and uses it to fight Ash in the Pokemon anime during his gym battle to get a badge. Surprisingly his Hoothoot is seen to be standing on two legs, even though it is implied that Hoothoot only ever stands on one leg, alternating between the two.
