Pac-Man is one of the oldest video game characters in general with him being the main protagonist of Pac-Man the game which was released in May 22nd 1980 in Japanese Arcades already.

While he started at that “Dot Eating Pizza” thing, he got arms and legs in illustrations soon and appeared that way in multiple Pac-Man games later which strived away from the dot-eating arcade classic mechanics.

Today there are Pac-Man Point & Click Adventures, Racers, Platformers and Pac-Man even made it into crossover fighting games like the Playstation versions of Street Fighter X Tekken in 2012 and Super Smash Bros. 4 WiiU and 3DS in 2014. He is alsp a playable racer in the Arcade exclusive Mario Kart Arcade GP (2005) and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 (2007).

In June 2014, we made him the character of the Month which resulted in around ten Pac-Man fan arts.

Pac-Man drawn for the Game-Art-HQ Video Game Character Database

If you ever played one of the original Pac-Man games you will remember one thing for sure:

“wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka wakka”

That sound when Pac-Man runs through the labyrinth and eats as many of the dots as possible and it’s always making that “wakka wakka wakka” sound the whole time 🙂

Eric DeSantis had this sound for the whole time in his head when he was drawing his take on Pac-Man for our game character database I bet. It took him over an hour for the whole creation but you can see a time-compressed video of him drawing it right here 🙂

I recommend to visit Eric / Superedco’s deviantART gallery as well, you can find a lot of awesome stuff there including many other artworks made for GA-HQ Art Collaborations!
