Carvanha using Dive by freqrexy

Bev Wooff / Freqrexy from the United Kingdom creates art for 13 years already and joined our Pokemon Tribute as one of the first artists in May already. In the end, she contributed not less than eight of the 151 Pokemon for it in 2016 and returned with four Pokemon in our Gen II Tribute and another stunning 16! of the 135 Gen III Pokemon, making her the direct “rival” of Yggdrassal, the only other artists in our community who ever contributed 16 Pokemon for one of the Generation tributes!

She is also one of the GA-HQ Patreon Supporters and helps me to create the galleries by writing the descriptions of many of the Pokemon and the illustrated moves and abilities 🙂

You can see a lot of drawn art but also crafted items and even cosplay in her gallery here!

Dive

“A two-turn attack. The user dives underwater on the first turn, then hits on the next turn.“

Dive is a  damage-dealing Water move that was first introduced in gen III as HM08. Using it outside of battle allows players to dive underwater while surfing if they are placed above dark patches of water.

This move has an accuracy of 100% and a PP of 10 which can be bulked up to a maximum of 16. Carvanha can learn Dive through hidden machine only and doesn’t learn it naturally at any stage.

Carvanha using Rough Skin by Flames-Flare

Flames-Flare aka. Corinne Rose from the USA is a young artist that joined the Pokemon Generation III Tribute when the majority of the Pokemon were already illustrated. She impressed us with her beautiful method to paint with traditional tools that gave the Pokemon her own unique look. In the end, she created not less than four submissions for our big collaboration with Anorith, Trapinch, Carvanha, and Zigzagoon!

Have a look at her whole gallery that includes many more Pokemon artworks here!

Rough Skin

“When the Pokémon is hit with a contact move like Tackle or Scratch, the attacker is damaged a little!“

Rough Skin is a Pokemon ability first introduced in gen III and was originally the signature ability of both Carvanha and Sharpedo. It damages a foe if they are making contact with the Pokemon that has this ability.

If an opponent uses a multi-strike move, such as Fury Swipes on a Pokemon with this ability then each hit will cause them to take damage. Carvanha always has the ability Rough Skin unless it portrays its hidden ability, Speed Boost.

#318 Carvanha

“They swarm any foe that invades their territory. Their sharp fangs can tear out boat hulls.”

Carvanha is a dual-type Water/Dark Pokemon known as the savage Pokemon and evolves into Sharpedo starting at level 30. It is based of piranhas and has the lowest base stat of all Dark Pokemon to date.

Its sharp teeth can chew through solid steel and tip apart boat hulls and it is known to swarm intruders and prey if found in its territory. Despite this, when alone Carvanha are knwon to become very timid. They are found living in rivers that course through jungles.

In the Pokemon Adventures manga, a Team Aqua admin Amber owned a Carvanha that he fought Sapphire’s Torchic and Aron with, using its Rough Skin ability to wear her Pokemon down. Amber left Carvanha to cover for him as he tried to escaped the Seafloor Cavern.
