1993 was a very important year for the video game industry worldwide. The 16 bit consoles both saw waves of high-profile games, the first 32bit based 3D games like Ridge Racer entered the arcades and the computer saw awesome games like Syndicate and Doom.

New game characters like Baraka from Mortal Kombat 2 or Akira from Virtua Fighter are still known and relative popular today, the new challengers from Super Street Fighter II like Cammy White are some of the most known game characters ever. SNK released Samurai Shodown in the arcades which would grow to a series with around 10 games till today.

There was a real wave of platformers for the Mega Drive and the Super Nintendo with many mascot characters like Sparkster the Rocket Knight.

The list below is growing every week, and will hopefully give you an overview about the game character creations from 1993!
