Dio from World Heroes in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB

Dio is the boss and antagonist in World Heroes 2, a 2d fighting game by ADK, released in 1993 for the Arcades /NeoGeo and many years later ported into collections like on the PS2 and as virtual console download in 2011 for Nintendo’s Wii. Dio returned also as the boss in World Heroes Perfect (1995).

Dio is an artificial soldier who was developed to replace Geegus, another experiment to create a super soldier which failed. Dio developed his own consciousness however and started to kill people in different eras.

Dio is using some of Dio Brandes lines, a character from the JoJo Bizarre Adventure manga /anime.

SNK developed a very similar character called Neo Dio for their NeoGeo Battle Coliseum Crossover fighting game.

We did not have a World Heroes Art Collaboration, but Dio from World Heroes 2 was drawn as part of the FGE Oriject, a big ongoing art collaboration about rarely drawn fighting game characters.
