Amakusa Samurai Shodown on Game Art HQ

Amakusa is a fictional character from the Samurai Shodown fighting games by SNK. He was introduced as the final boss in the first Samurai Shodown in 1993 (unplayable in the Arcade version) and returned in almost all main time-line games from Samurai Shodown III on. The last time he was a playable character was in Samurai Shodown, released in 2019. Amakusa was the last DLC character for the game, released in 2021.

He made it also in the Slot-Machine game Samurai Spirits: Oni where is design was changed a bit visually. Amakusa fights with a flying Orb, one of the most unusual weapons in the SS games.

His full name is Shiro Tokisada Amakusa and he is based on the historical person Amakusa Shirō

We featured Amakusa in one of our first Art Collaborations back in 2011 with our art Tribute to fighting game boss characters and there will be something Samurai Shodown related again for sure.
