Shao Kahn is the main antagonist of the Mortal Kombat series and the final boss in 4 games of the series. He debuted in Mortal Kombat 2 (1993) and returned as the boss in Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) and its updates Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) as well as Mortal Kombat Trilogy (1996) where he was playable for the first time. Shao Kahn returned as a playable character in the Gamecube version of Mortal Kombat Deception (2005) and its Playstation Portable port, Mortal Kombat: Unchained (2006). Shao Kahn returned as an unplayable final boss in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (2005). Shao Kahn is also a playable character in Mortal Kombat Armageddon (2006). In Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (2008) he is an unlockable character, he merged to “Dark Kahn” there with the DC Comics Villain Darkseid to be the final boss again. Shao Kahn’s latest in-game appearance so far was in Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) where he returned as the main antagonist and final boss character as well. Shao Kahn was absent in Mortal Kombat X (2015) but returned as not only an antagonist and a big part of Mortal Kombat XI (2019) in its story. This time he is playable with a full move set like all other characters. Shao Kahn is the emperor of Outworld in the games and tries to invade Earthrealm together with other realms like Edenia. He was defeated by Liu Kang and Raiden. Today, Shao Kahn is one of the most known fighting game bosses. |

Shao Kahn is part of three of our art collaborations so far with him being in the Fighting Game Bosses Tribute from November 2011 as well as him being illustrated in all of his different designs from Mortal Kombat 2 up to Mortal Kombat 9 in our big Mortal Kombat Art Tribute.
