Meditite using Calm Mind by sir-rudolph

Sir Rudolph, aka Donavon Brutus is one of the artists that joined Game-Art-HQ’s community in 2017 and started to become active members quickly when we introduced the Pokemon Generation II Tribute. He claimed both Donphan and Octillery for this Art Collaboration and continued to support our Pokemon Tributes in 2018 with his take on Meditite. He also drew Dhalsim from Street Fighter for our Tribute to its 30th Anniversary!

Calm Mind

“The user quietly focuses its mind and calms its spirit to raise its Sp. Atk and Sp. Def stats.”

Calm Mind is a Psychic-type status move originally introduced in Generation III.  It’s a beefy move that boosts the Pokémon’s own special attack and special defense stats by one stage each.

Meditite can learn the move by level up with the level depending on the game – 28 in Generation III, 25 from Generation IV and currently 23 from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire onwards.

Meditite using Meditate by Yggdrassal

Yggdrassal from the United States is an active part of the Game-Art-HQ Community since around three years now and contributed a good couple of video game artworks that are about games that are rarely getting any attention now.

He participated with a Timesplitters 3 entry as an example and Rocket: Robots on Wheels as part of our Nintendo 64 Tribute this year. He joined the Pokémon Gen I Tribute with Dodrio in the first May week already and drew seven more of the little Gen I creatures. He also holds the record of the most submissions for our Gen II & III Pokemon tributes with not less than 11 submissions in Gen II and another 16! in our Gen III Tribute!

Besides the many artworks he did for our Pokemon Tributes you can see a lot more art of many different kinds on his gallery here!

Meditate

“The user meditates to awaken the power deep within its body and raise its Attack stat.”

Meditate is a Psychic-Type move that won’t damage the enemies directly but helps greatly to increase the own attack stats by one stage. It can also be powered up by using Psychium Z to rise the Attack stats by another stage.

Meditite gets access to the move very early on in its lifespan, learning it once it reaches level 4.

#307 Meditite

“It continually meditates for hours every day. As a result of rigorous and dedicated yoga training, it has tempered its spiritual power so much it can fly.”

Meditite is a dual psychic / fighting type Pokémon that is available in Ruby and Sapphire but is not available in Emerald without trading with another player.  It evolves into Medicham at level 37, is uncommon in the wild, and can be seen in the mountains.

Meditite have an unusual lifestyle – their diet consists of just one berry each day, they always do yoga workouts every day without fail, and they meditate for hours to build up their mental strength.  Their dedication to their tough regime is so powerful they can levitate in the air.  However, when in meditation they lose concentration and go in a never-ending loop of building itself up and learning they still need improvement.

Its debut in the animé was under the ownership of Shauna, a trainer who studies at Brawly’s Gym.  She used Meditite in two battles against Ash’s Pikachu – the first one quickly was called off due to a storm before either Pokémon could inflict damage, then the second one had Pikachu make a comeback against Meditite’s flurry of attacks.  According to Brawly, Shauna and Meditite had trained together since she was a little girl.
