Swellow using Brave Bird by Yggdrassal

Yggdrassal from the United States is an active part of the Game-Art-HQ Community since around three years now and contributed a good couple of video game artworks that are about games that are rarely getting any attention now.

He participated with a Timesplitters 3 entry as an example and Rocket: Robots on Wheels as part of our Nintendo 64 Tribute this year. He joined the Pokémon Gen I Tribute with Dodrio in the first May week already and drew seven more of the little Gen I creatures. He also holds the record of the most submissions for our Gen II & III Pokemon tributes with not less than 11 submissions in Gen II and another 16! in our Gen III Tribute!

Besides the many artworks he did for our Pokemon Tributes you can see a lot more art of many different kinds on his gallery here!

Brave Bird

“The user tucks in its wings and charges from a low altitude. The user also takes serious damage.”

Brave Bird is a Flying-type attack where the user flies to a high altitude and shoots like a guided missile towards the target.

Though the attack is powerful, the recoil also damages the user.

Crobat and Swellow are the only Pokemon in our Tribute so far that are using the Brave Bird attack.

Swellow using Sky Attack by AnOtterOne

AnOtterOne from Germany is like me a big fan of fighting games and their characters and drew a couple of them for our FGE (Fighting Games Elite) Project recently. He joined our Pokemon Generation III Tribute as one of the last artists and it was quite a surprise for me to see him drawing a Pokemon instead of characters from Tekken or the still awesome Bloody Roar!

Check out his whole gallery here!

Sky Attack

The strongest Flying-type attack. Energy is stored in the first turn, then fired the next turn

Sky Attack was introduced in the very first generation and from the second generation onwards, became the signature move of the legendary Phoenix, Moltres. It is a flying-type move with the power of an incredible 140!

It is a two-turn move, the first instance the user searches for a weak point and the second it goes in for the attack. It is the strongest flying-type move. Only the Aerodactyl and Swellow are using it in our tributes so far!

#277 Swellow

“Swellow flies high above our heads, making graceful arcs in the sky. This Pokémon dives at a steep angle as soon as it spots its prey. The hapless prey is tightly grasped by Swellow’s clawed feet, preventing escape.”

Swellow is the evolution of Taillow and a  dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon. These proud birds are often preying on poor Wurmples and are circling in the sky over the grasslands.

This Pokemon is obviously based on the real world swallows and behaves kinda similar to them as well. Swellow is seen as one of the common bird-type Pokemon of gen III.

Taillow is the previous evolution of Swellow. Ash owned a Taillow in the Pokemon anime that chose not to evolve into a Swellow.
