The Phantom Shadow Beast, boss of the Shadow Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Probably my favorite boss in that game design-wise, I just love ghosts and graveyards and the haunted theme levels in video games haha. And Bongo Bongo really delivered. Link’s Blacklist for Game-Art-HQ is in its fifth round this year, and this time around I gladly claimed this boss to draw!

I wanted to showcase the boss so it gets the… upper hand over Link. _{..Get it. Upper… hand}

Good thing you can’t drop your items in the game.. imagine, heheh.
I included some details big and small to give you as much of the story of the monster as I could too. Arrows in the hand, the view of it with and without the lens of truth, and I put my own spin on the “face” part.

The accepted fan lore about this boss is the man it once was executed by beheading after his hands were cut off for thievery. But Bongo Bongo itself doesn’t look like its head was cut off… it looks like its face was cut off. Or rather, flayed off. heheheheh

It took a little longer than I would have liked to finish it. As it turns out, moving by yourself across an ocean to a new place is harder than I thought I8 Who would have guessed.
But I finally finished, I wanted to try doing a little more but I ran out of time to keep picking at it. I may touch this up in the future though, if I get any good input on how I could improve it. If you have any advice, lay it on me.

Bongo Bongo is the boss of the Shadow Temple dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

It’s a pretty unique boss even among the colorful bestiary in the Legend of Zelda games and “sings” 

a melody through the battle while it’s also drumming on a Bongo the whole time.

Link has also to use the Lens of Truth as seen in the artwork by Ra-ooo to see Bingo Bongo after it 

became invisible and changed its position in the boss battle room.
