1988 is a year I don’t know much about so far. Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 were released as well as the pretty fun Bravoman by Namco for arcades. 1988 marked also the debut of the popular Chocobo from Final Fantasy and Ryu Hayabusa from the Ninja Gaiden games.
