Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang) returns to Mortal Kombat to fight against Quan Chi and Shinnok which are invading the realms. Sub-Zero might know secrets to stop the fallen Elder God. ~ Sub-Zero wears the old traditional Lin Kuai costume again while the clan disbanded and returns with his trademark moves like his Ice Shot and his slide but also the Ice-Clone move from Mortal Kombat 3. He also performs his classic fatalities, but this time in 3D of course. ~ In his ending, Sub-Zero won a battle against Scorpion who still hunts him, believing he would be responsible for the death of his family and clan. Quan Chi appears and attacks Sub-Zero and makes the big mistake to tell Scorpion the truth about him and his past with the Lin Kuei warrior. Scorpion finishes Quan Chi for good and eventually makes peace with Sub-Zero, releasing him from his curse.
