Heracross used Hyper Beam by DiegoPorto

Diego Porto from Brazil really wanted to take more of the Pokémon after his take on Charizard‘s Flamethrower in 2016 but finding the time for our hobbies is often enough a problem, especially if it can take as much time as a thought out artwork, done at home! But Diego was back for more when we announced the Gen II tribute in March 2017 and quickly claimed Heracross for it 🙂

Check out Diego’s gallery for many more artworks here!

Hyper Beam

“An extremely powerful attack. The attacker becomes so tired, it has to rest the next turn”

Hyper Beam is the incredibly powerful TM15 attack. Another two-turn attack, the user attacks with an incredibly powerful beam and then rests on the second turn.

It is a normal type move with an incredible power of 150.

The small Sunkern as well as the Bear sized Ursaring are both using the Hyper Beam in our Pokemon Tribute among many others!

Heracross used Close Combat by KayVeeDee

KayVeeDee draws wonderful stuff since years already (Have a look at her gallery here) but her take on Weepinbell was her first and so far only venture into a GA-HQ Project.

Last year I wrote that I look forward to her next contribution and she did not disappoint us with her takes on Xatu and Heracross!

Close Combat

“The user fights the target up close without guarding itself. This also lowers the user’s Defense and Special Defense stats.”

Close Combat is a Fighting-type move that damages the target and then drops the user’s defensive stats by one stage.

It has an accuracy of 100% and a power rating of 120. Heracross is currently the only Pokemon drawn using the Close Combat move in our big Tribute!

#214 – Heracross

“Though gentle and docile, Heracross possesses great strength and power. Their favorite food is the fresh sap of leafy trees.”

Heracross is a beetle-like Pokémon covered in a blue exoskeleton. Its prominent horn ends either in a cross on males or a heart-shape on females. Sharp claws enable it to tear up the ground for sturdy footing or to scale trees. Heracross can can lift and throw objects 100 times its own weight. Its primary habitat is forests, where it feeds on tree sap.

In the anime, Heracross has been shown to compete with other Pokémon such as Pinsir for food. After eating, it may allow Pokemon like Butterfree to have leftover tree sap. Heracross can absorb sap from Grass-type Pokemon such as Bulbasaur.

In the Pokemon anime, Ash owned a Heracross that he caught on his Johto journey. Heracross was seen to be a very carefree Pokemon as well as being incredibly hardy, able to take a lot of hits. Ash’s Bulbasaur often grew tired with Heracross as it kept trying to suck the nectar out from Bulbasaur’s bulb.
