Shuckle used Struggle Bug by Gladecleaver

Gladecleaver came out of nowhere..well from somewhere in Singapore and had only a handful of pieces in his dA gallery yet, but we thought, why not..lets see what this artist will do with Alakazam when we had our first Pokemon Tribute ongoing 🙂

In 2017, he returned to draw another one of the Pokemon and this time he did an excellent take on Shuckle for it.

There are many more deviations in his gallery now which I recommend to visit of course!

Struggle Bug

“While resisting, the user attacks the opposing Pokémon. The targets’ Sp. Atk stat is reduced.”

Struggle Bug is a Bug-type move that inflicts damage and drops the opponent’s Special Attack stat by one level.  It has 100% accuracy.

It was originally introduced in Generation V and can also be taught to specific Pokemon using TM76. In Generation VI it’s power was increased from 30 to 50.

Its only used by Shuckle in our Pokemon Tribute so far!

Shuckle used Shell Smash by CyanOnion

Well, this is a weird and a bit sad case. The artist who drew Kingdra and also Shuckle deleted his/her deviantart account and left without mentioning any reasons. It was pure luck that the illustrations were still online at that time.

Shell Smash

“The user breaks its shell, which lowers Defense and Sp. Def stats but sharply raises its Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed stats.”

Shell Smash is a non-damaging Normal-type move that lowers the user’s Defence and Special Defence by one stage, but increases their Attack, Special Attack, and Speed by two stages.

It has a base PP of 15 but can be buffed up to 24 manually and was first introduced in the Black 2 and White 2 games. It is only used by Shuckle in our Pokemon tribute so far.

#213 – Shuckle

“When Shuckle places organic materials in its husk-like shell, the items are transformed into a unique juice. Shuckle are naturally shy and are most often found hiding beneath rocks.”

Shuckle is a Pokémon resembling a small turtle. Until they are in use, its yellow limbs appear limp.  As opposed to hunting or foraging for food, Shuckle gathers and stores Berries in its shell. The Berries are liquefied and fermented in Shuckle’s digestive juices and consumed later. Its digestive juices can also be used to dissolve rocks in order to create a hiding place.

Shuckle is often found in the mountains and is a dual-type Bug/Rock Pokemon with a 50/50 split gender ratio. In Pokemon Gold and Silver, a PokemManiac in Cianwood City can gift the player with a Shuckle.

In the Pokemon anime, a shiny Shuckle was seen to be producing juice that caused Pokemon to become attracted to it when drank. An old man had befriended it alongside the other Shuckle nearby to produce his own berry juice. Team Rocket antagonist, Butch also owned a Shuckle and he used it to battle with James’ Carnivine.
