Igglybuff used Fake Tears by KeithByrne

Keith Byrne is one of the artists I contacted back in 2011 already, short after this website was created and asked him for his permission to show his Mortal Kombat fan art illustrations here. Back in April he submitted a Pokemon fan art all of a sudden and when I told him about our Gen II tribute he was fire and flame about it and quickly claimed the first Cleffa slot! I look forward to see him returning next year when we  continue with Gen III!

Have a look at his whole gallery including the mentioned Mortal Kombat pieces here!

Fake Tears

“The user feigns crying to fluster the target, harshly lowering its Sp. Def stat.”

Fake Tears is one of the non-damaging moves and lowers the special defence of the opponent which can be very useful against many Pokémon. It is one of the moves that were added in the Gen III games.

It is a Dark-type move and the only way Igglybuff can learn it is through being bred with another Pokemon that already knows the Fake Tears move and is also in the same egg group as itself.

Igglybuff is actually the first Pokemon that used the Fake Tears move in our art collaboration!

Igglybuff used Sing by 3Paula3

Paula is a student from Spain that joined our community in summer 2016 and the Butterfree for the Pokémon Gen I Tribute was the first GA-HQ Art collaboration for her. I believe she draws some very cute stuff which can be seen in her dA gallery here. Last year I hoped she would return for Gen II and indeed she did with three submissions this time.

Her takes on Bellosoom, Togetic, Blissey and Igglybuff show her deep dedication to the Pokemon games!

Sing

“A soothing lullaby is sung in a calming voice that puts the target into a deep slumber.”

Sing is a non-damaging Normal-type move that has a chance to put the opponent to sleep for up to 5 turns. It was the signature move of Jigglypuff from the very first games as a trainer with a Jigglypuff in Pokemon Yellow can put the player’s Pikachu to sleep using Sing if spoken to.

It is weaker than other sleep-inducing moves such as Hypnosis or Snore as Sing only has a 55% accuracy however if it does hit it can prove to be a very useful move in a tactful combat.

The Sing move was used by five different Pokemon in our Gen I & II Tribute so far, making it one of the most used moves yet!

“It moves by bouncing along. As it moves a lot, it sweats, and its body gives off a sweet aroma.”

Igglybuff known as the Balloon Pokemon is the baby form of Jigglypuff first introduced in the Gold and Silver games. After evolving to Jigglupuff it can evolve further into its final form; Wigglytuff.

It is a dual Normal-Fairy type Pokemon and, being a baby Pokemon is one of the few that cannot breed until it is evolved into at least a Jigglypuff. It is unfortunately tied with five other Pokemon at having the lowest special defence stat of all time.

In the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, a special episode titled ‘Igglybuff the Prodigy’ can be played where an Igglybuff stars as the main character instead of the player’s original Pokemon. Completing the story will go on to reveal that this Igglybuff was in fact the Guildmaster Wigglytuff from the main game’s story.
