Sega is one of the oldest Japanese companies together with Nintendo that started to become one of the big players when video games became a worldwide hit in the early eighties. But unlike Nintendo, Sega never abandoned the Arcade market completely and continued to create a good couple of revolutionary games for them even in the late nineties. Sega also dominated the home console market in some regions for years with their Master System and the Sega Genesis but started to lose more and more ground in the mid-nineties since their Saturn was a flop in comparison with the Sony Playstation. Their last console was the Sega Dreamcast.

Today, Sega is still a video game developer and publisher but releases not many games anymore. Thanks a lot, Sega for Alex Kidd, Sonic, Blaze Fielding and Ryo Hazuki. And thanks for bringing the most of the Yakuza games to the west 😉
