Sorry that I have to start with a little rant here, but Johnny Cage’s backstory in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat 4 really sucked and it is no wonder Midway and Netherrealm Studio later tried to erase this part. First, Johnny Cage died between MK2 and 3, than he is able to return as a trapped soul, only to be released when Shao Kahn is defeated in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Good Johnnyboy can ascend to the “Heavens” now just to see his friends fighting against Shinnok which causes Cage to search Raiden for help to restore his deceived soul and be able to fight against evil once again. Yeah right. His ending just shows him doing a short arrogant speech in front of an “Oscar Prize” similar audience which causes them to throw tomatoes etc after him. In the game himself, Johnny Cage has the exact special moves as before, the only real new addition is the Broad Sword weapon. Good they really fixed everything of Johnny Cage many years later in Mortal Kombat 9.
