Murkrow used Haze by TheWarriorArtist

The Pencil Wielding Warrior from the USA is one of the artists that joined Game-Art-HQ in summer 2016 to participate in our first Pokemon tribute. He did Dewgong and Staryu and eventually Spearow which was one of the last available Pokemon. In 2017 he returned for our Generation II Project and took Murkrow and Houndoom.

He draws a lot Pokemon related art which you can see in his gallery there and I am pretty sure we will see more from him next year!

Haze

“Creates a black haze that eliminates all stat changes.”

A non-damage dealing Ice-type move, Haze eliminates every single stat change that has occurred on the two battling Pokemon at the current time during the battle taking place. It could even eliminate status effects from as Burn and Paralysis however this was removed in generation II.

It is considered to be the counterpart to Mist, another resetting move. In the Pokemon anime it seems to be nearly identical in style and effect to Smokescreen.

Murkrow is the first Pokemon in our tribute that used Haze!

Murkrow used Mean Look by Twarda8

Karolina Twardosz from Poland joined our first Pokemon Tribute after I invited her personally to this project, I think back in April or May of 2016. What she didn’t know was that she and a specific fan art she drew in February 2016 to tribute the Pokemon Anniversary was one of the reasons why we started our first Pokemon Art Collaboration! She did a wonderful little piece with the three starters Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle in front of the Games and a Nintendo 3DS. Her dedication to this piece made us think that we should do something for the Pokemon Fan Community as well.

Twarda drew five of the Pokemon including MissingNo in 2016 and she returned with new takes on Murkrow and Skarmory and I am sure we will see more from her in the Gen III Tribute next year.

???

I recommend to visit her whole gallery on deviantART here!

Mean Look

“A probing stare that prevents the target from escaping until the attacking Pokémon is gone. “

The Mean Look move was once a sure-fire way to prevent any Pokemon (wild or caught) the chance of escaping a battle or switching out. Of course as the name implies; only Pokemon that are visible and not in FLY or DIG mode can be affected by it.

Through subsequent Generations; all Pokemon could be hit with this move. However, by Generation VI the move no longer affected Ghost-Types.

Golbat, Zubat and also Murkrow are using the Mean Look in our Tribute so far!

#198 – Murkrow

“Feared and loathed by many, it is believed to bring misfortune to all those who see it at night.”

Murkrow is a Dark/Flying type Pokemon that can evolve into a Honchkrow when exposed to a Dusk stone. It has a very equal spilt gender ration, that being 50% females and 50% males and is based very closesly of that of a crow as seen from it’s black bird appearance as well as having a similar sounding word in its name.

It is known as the Darkness Pokemon, a category that it shares with Sableye and is actually the only non-Ghost Pokemon that evolves from a Dusk Stone. Alongside Misdrevious, both Pokemon seem to be based off witches, as can be seen by their pointy hat-like features.

In the Pikachu mini movie, ‘Pikachu & Pichu’ a group of Murkow were shown to be terrorising Pikachu when it landed on their pole, they were seen to be quite cunning and tricksters of this movie. Also in the Pokemon anime, popular Hoenn rival, Paul was shown to own a Murkow that eventually evolved into a Honchkrow.
