While the Playstation consoles are super successful now since 20 years, relative few games were directly developed by Sony Studios for their hardware.

Ape Escape is one of these few games and made full use of the (back in 1999) Dual Shock controller and its two analog sticks. The main protagonist Spike can move in all 360 directions with the left stick while the right stick is used for the many gadgets Spike can use to capture the evil Apes who want to rewrite history. Ape Escape is also one of the first games which made use of the L3 and R3 buttons.

Ape Escape got multiple great sequels and ports. The last big game, Ape Escape : Million Monkeys in 2006 was sadly only released in Japan, the last spinoff of the series Playstation Move: Ape Escape was released in 20110 for the Playstation 3.
