1996 was a great year for fighting game fans, not only did we get the home port of Tekken 2, new King of Fighters, Street Fighter and Battle Arena Toshinden games as well as Mortal Kombat Trilogy, we also saw Soul Edge, a new 3D fighting game by Namco getting released for the Playstation.

This weapon based fighter would become SoulBlade in the west and featured the characters like Siegfried, Mitsurugi and Sophitia already which would become more popular with the sequels known as SoulCalibur 1-5.

Fredrik “Fedde” Mattsson from Sweden drew this tribute to the characters of the game (in its first version without Hwang and Cervantes) and used traditional tools like fineliners and watercolor.
