Allen Snider from Street Fighter EX and Fighting Layer in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB

Allen Snider is one of the Street Fighter EX series characters and made his debut as a time-locked fighter back in 1996. In the Street Fighter EX Plus and the Playstation versions, he was playable from the start. While he did not return in the two SFEX sequels, he made it into Fighting Layer, another fighting game by Arika and released only for Japanese arcades in 1998 After that, nothing was seen from him anymore except short and un canon appearances in a few Street Fighter comics until Arika was releasing Fighting EX Layer, a spiritual successor of their earlier games in 2017 where Allen Snider returned with an updated design. Allen Snider was a pretty cool character design, and while he was a “shoto” like Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Sakura, and Kairi in the game he still had his unique moves and most of all..these damn cool sideburns which made him kinda looking like a young Chuck Norris. In SFEX his story is about being a rival of Ken Masters after getting beaten by him. In the home versions of SFEX there are no epilogues sadly and so it is unknown to me if he beat Ken in his official ending in the Japanese arcade version. Allen got included in our SF Art Tribute in 2012 of course, but there are really only a very few official artworks and fan arts as well about him. |

Back in December 2011 we organized a very big Art Tribute for the 25th Anniversary of the Street Fighter series. And while Allen Snider and the SFEX games are not developed by Capcom and therefore, not counted “canon” we included Allen and everyone else from the Street Fighter EX games in our project.
Allen Snider got also drawn by Francis Lim as a submission to our Street Fighter EX Art Contest back in March 2011 which was our first Art Contest ever! |
