The GA-HQ Final Fantasy Art Tribute - Those Who Fight Further

Tifa Lockhart, the Monk from the Final Fantasy VII Games

Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII and the many pre- and sequels of the game is one of the most known Final Fantasy characters today due to her attractive character design and last but not least her martial arts fighting style based around the Monk Job-Class.

Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII, drawn for Final Fantasy – Those Who Fight Further

by  AlNiCo-ism , Eddy Shinjuku and DarkRinoa88

Why did you choose Tifa?

I had always wanted to draw Tifa… loved her ever since I watched FFVII AC. Despite being a fan of the Final Fantasy Series, I have never (seriously) played FF7… I did play Crisis Core for PSP though, and I do know how the story of FF7 goes since I have friends who played it.

Honestly, I was going to draw her in her AC costume… or even the costume she wore in the past with the cowboy hat… but somehow… at the end, I drew her in her normal costume with a small artist sense added to it.

What do you like about her and about FFVII?

Tifa as a character is quite unique… even though her background story gets outweight by other characters like Cloud or Aerith; I was always a big fan of characters on the sidelines of the story like her. Because of that, she is my favorite in the series.

She becomes the main heroine in FFVII AC, and her existence as the one for Cloud pressures even more on me after I played Crisis Core… as it clearly tell us Aerith is for Zack.

What tools did you use for the artwork?

The software I used for this picture was SAI paintool; usually I would touch up in Photoshop, but this one never got to that step. The main reason was: instead of using my Intuos 4 tablet I have at home, I drew this one in a coffee shop (went to that shop a few times to finish the picture) near I lived.

I had some free time on my hands at that time as thought I should test out my windows tablet as a drawing tool… which turned out amazing if I wasn’t comparing the speed of it with my desktop.

Tifa Lockhart Fan Art Final Fantasy Tribute

Please describe your take on her

Since Tifa is a character that uses punches and kick, I thought I would draw her all wind back before releasing a punch… and because of the influence that AC have on me, I have her falling from the sky while trying to punch with all her weight…

the Anatomy is a bit weird if I was to compare it with RL… I don’t think anyone is flexible enough to twist their vertebrae like that. But I think the picture is not bad with a little exaggeration

Artwork and description of it by AlNiCo-ism

 About the Artist:

AlNiCo-ism is one of the few Asian (Hong Kong in this case) artists who were participating in Game-Art-HQ art projects yet, and i had a feeling back in january 2013 already that this artist would be part of our Final Fantasy Tribute when i saw the Aerith Gainsborough artwork and invited this artist to our dA group! Her Tifa Lockhart illustration is the second submission by her for the Final Fantasy Art Tribute after Celes Chere from FFVI in the first round.

Is there something else you want to tell the visitors of the Final Fantasy Art Tribute on GA-HQ?

Tifa Lockhart all CostumesArtwork and description of it by DarkRinoa88

Why did you choose Tifa?

Tifa is one of my favourite characters from the Final Fantasy universe, together with Rinoa and Beatrix. When I saw this project I couldn’t resist, I had to draw her!

What do you like about her and about FFVII?

Tifa is a really positive character. She’s strong and cheering and, even though she has her own fears too, she never let herself down, and she’s very supporting towards her friends. FFVII is simply majestic, it’s so hard to say what I like about it in just a few lines… the storyline, the whole atmosphere… everything was just great!

What tools did you use for the artwork?

I sketched the drawing on paper, then worked on it with easy paint tool sai. for the final touch I used Adobe Photoshop CS3

Please describe your take on her

eheh, nice question! When I was thinking about this drawing, I struggled a lot. Which version was the best to choose? Moreover, Tifa showed different sides of her through her entire story so then the solution was… 5 is better than one! Every drawing is a reflection of a part of her, and conveys a different emotion (and hey, she has a lot of beautiful outfits too!!XD)

Is there something else you want to tell the visitors of the Final Fantasy Art Tribute on GA-HQ?
