After Shao Kahn was defeated and his race could not be resurrected anymore, Reptile works for Shinnok in the hope that this fallen Elder God would send him to a past where his race still existed. ~ Reptile is one of the few returning characters in Mortal Kombat 4 which got a completely new design. Reptile is no longer a green Ninja, instead, he has different clothes and looks more like a real reptile or snake now. His moveset is the same for the most part, but he does not have his mighty force ball anymore, he can still make himself invisible though, and has a new fast move known as the super crawl. ~ Reptile demands that Shinnok sends him back in time, but the Elder God sees no reason to do it and kills Reptile with a mere thought
