Boogerman 3D Illustration by AEmiliusLives

Boogerman is the antihero-main protagonist of the game Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure a pretty fun 2D platformer that was released back in…1994 for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive and in 1995 for the Super Nintendo as well.

The game had a super weird story about a Professor named Stinkbaum who invented the machine that could save our world from pollution and a millionaire with the wonderful name Snotty Ragsdale aka. the mighty Boogerman. Interesting is that video game devs thought about problems that are part of the news today almost every week and became kinda popular thanks to Greta Thunberg and the climate changes that might be caused by us and our industry after all.

In the game you controlled Boogerman who could fart and burp beside running and jumping around and is the wet dream of well..probably nobody.

The game was…just like its protagonist not one of the most beautiful games of the 16bit era but it truly had its own charm and a lot of funny ideas. Its a pity we never saw a second Boogerman game. Back in 2013, there was an attempt to create a HD remake by the original devs but the Kickstarter Campaign did not even reach 30% of the financial goals.

Anyway, thanks to AEmiliusLives who is one of our staff members and a long time contributor on Game-Art-HQ we have a great looking 3d sculpt of Boogerman now at least. Who knows..never say never when it comes to old video game characters!

AEmilius wrote the following to describe this piece:

“This is my undue homage 3D-sculpture of silly old Boogerman from “Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure”, famous for its scatological humor. As usual, I made it in Sculptris Zbrush Keyshot Photoshop.

This is kind of random, but I always wanted to make a bit of a series of obscure protagonists from my fav platformers of old, and this guy was on that list, so here he is. I should have done a better job researching this, though.

I made most of my sculpture based on the one image that wasn’t in-game sprites and it gave me (possibly) a wrong impression of what his chin and stomach are really like, then again it’s also sort of inconsistently drawn in the actual game’s animation. Whatchagonnado.

I did screw up with the gloves, though. I thought they were torn and he had just his pinky out, since most of his costume is falling apart. But he actually wears fingerless gloves :hmm: I should have paid more attention to the in-game screengrabs, but well… it’s done and rendered and I’m not going back to redo things that don’t really matter, like this rant”
