Raiden debuted as one of the unplayable characters in the first Fatal Fury (1991) and returned as the unmasked Big Bear in Fatal Fury 2. His first playable appearance as Raiden was in Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition (1999).

It seems Capcom liked the character because they put him into Capcom vs. SNK (2000) as one of the few SNK characters that were not part of the King of Fighters games before. Raiden returned also in the direct sequel Capcom vs. SNK 2 (2001) and finally found his way into KOF in The King of Fighters XII (2009) and The King of Fighters XIII (2010).

Raiden is the heel pro-wrestling persona of the character. He uses traditional wrestling moves like dropkicks but can also do typical heel moves like spitting mist at his opponents.
