Snorlax used Body Slam by FischHead

Fischhead and myself share the dedication to tribute old video games from time to time, especially the almost forgotten ones like Star Gladiator, Clayfighter or the whole bunch of the Kremlings from the Donkey Kong Country Games. I never thought he would also join the Pokemon tribute, but there you see it. Snorlax in all its beautiful grace while performing a body slam.

“A Normal-type attack. Has a one-in-three chance of paralyzing the target if it hits.“

Body Slam is a Normal-Type attack move introduced in Generation I as TM Move TM08.

The user uses its massive bulk to slam into the opponent. The biggest pay-off of this move is the chance of the user Paralyzing its opponent. There is a 30% chance of this happening.

Weaselpa aka Panagiotis Vlamis is one of the two artists from Greece in our Pokémon tribute and was one of the first artists who joined it when we announced it on the 29th April. His take on Sandslash using the Fury Swipes move was actually the first of the over 300 illustrations that were created for this project.

Panagiotis is a contributing member of our community since around July 2015 when he contributed a very unusual illustration of a Samurai Shodown character to our GA-HQ Project. Since than, he submitted artworks to many of our art collaborations including Link’s Blacklist and the Nintendo 64 Anniversary Tribute in summer 2016.

You can see a ton of great video game art among other stuff on his gallery at dA here!

“A huge yawn lulls the foe into falling asleep on the next turn”

Yawn is one of the pretty unconventional Pokemon moves and was introduced in Generation III.  You know how often other people will yawn if you just yawned? Now imagine your yawn will make the other people so tired that they will fall asleep..this is basically how Yawn works in Pokemon 🙂

The opponent will fall asleep after the next round unless it is already afflicted by a non-volatile status condition. Yawn won’t work if the opponent has the Sweet Veil ability though.

“A lazy Pokémon that gets continually fatter by sticking to a cycle of eating and sleeping. Awake only when it eats”

Snorlax is a very well-known Pokemon, infamous for blocking pathways in multiple Pokemon games, forcing the player to obtain a Poke Flute to get it to wake up in order to progress further in the game.

Snorlax is a normal-type Pokemon and one of the very iconic ones used by Ash Ketchum in the Pokemon anime, having caught it on the Orange Islands.
