Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street in the GA-HQ Video Game Character DB
![]() |
Freddy Krueger, the villain from the Nightmare on Elm Street movies debuted back in 1989 in a video game for the C64 and DOS platforms which got a sequel very fast. A Nightmare on Elm Street was also released for the NES by the pretty known developer Rare, but the game itself was a quite boring platformer. It was planned to play as Freddy Krueger himself there and hunt children but these plans were cancelled due to the following controversy for such a game. Freddy Krueger’s next in-game appearances were in Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) as the last DLC character. He is based on the 2010 Elm Street Reboot there. The original Freddy Krueger is only playable in the fanmade and free fighting game Terrordrome. |
