Chrono Trigger Anniversary GA-HQ Art Challenge

“I was charged with drawing a celebration/reunion, and, so I got to it. Unfortunately, after God knows how many hours, my photoshop file became corrupt….the only reason I did not lose ALL my work was because I was able to open the file in Illustrator, but doing so flattened it. Thankfully, I’d colored in and rendered/shaded 90% of the characters…and those that had not been were cut (Sorry Kino)…mostly from the left hand side of the rooftop, which is why it feels bare.

It’s also why the backgrounds and foregrounds are so poor…I was unable to put fine detail into them (boothes, wall decorations, shelves with items and drinks in the bar, broken drinks/bottles in the upstairs fight, Lucca’s glasses, etc), things that would have given it a more complete feel.

Also, unfortunately, the flattened file had a temporary…and bad…color filter on it, so I lost a lot of teh fine contrast of my rendering to all the characters in the darkness. Alas, such is life…and all life Begins with Nu…..at least, that’s what I believe, for now. Give me a Toma pop and all is good.”

Chrono Trigger, one of the games that are often mentioned as one of the best games of their generation celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year. Lets see if Square-Enix will celebrate it with a re-release or something better as well.

Trey “Toadman005” Brannon used our RPG Art Challenge to create his own tribute to Chrono Trigger with this massive composition above which displays the many characters and even small enemies of the game.
