The Dry Bones were a part of the Super Mario games since SMB3 but Dry Bowser debuted many years later, in 2006 in New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS.

His normal body melted when he felt in the Lava Pit ..but the Evil was not destroyed completely and Bowser returns as a skeleton boss in World 8.

Fire can’t hurt him and it is not possible to simply jump on him but he can be destroyed through reaching the switch behind him when he jumps OR through a Blue Shell.

Dry Bowser returned in some of the later games and the Mario Sports /Olympic Games while it was rarely explained why he was there in a skeleton form. He also made it into the Mario Kart series as an unlockable character in Mario Kart Wii and returns as part of a DLC (yay) in MK8.

The illustration of him was drawn with traditional tools as one  of a very few submissions for Mario’s Blacklist and was created by Villaman89.
