Golden Axe Art by Daniel Vendrell Oduber

Whenever i write an article / blog about a fan art i try to find a balance between writing something for a popular game or game character and also something for almost forgotten games which are rarely receiving any fan art. Golden Axe is such a game.

I myself remember it well from the early nineties on the Megadrive but i bet the most of you readers never played this old beat’em up.

Daniel Vendrell Oduber, a professional artist from Spain is a big Sega fan and created this Golden Axe illustration, starring the three protagonists Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead and the main villain of the series, Death Adder.

I guess its noteable that he drew Ax Battler very similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan the Barbar. A movie which was once an inspiration for the designs of Golden Axe.

Golden Axe is also one of the around 15 beat’em ups we included in our art tribute about this game genre earlier in 2013, you can read a lot about it and also see another illustration of the game if you click on the logo of our beat’em up tribute 🙂
