Sonic the Hedgehog, one of the fastest platformers of its time and the first game for the new platform mascot of Sega was first released for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive in 1991.
Sega Master System and Game Gear Versions followed with different levels and a bigger focus on the exploration of the stages.
