The Lakitu are an enemy class in the Super Mario games since the classic Super Mario Bros. (1985). He or they returned in the majority of the Super Mario games including Super Mario 64 (1996), New Super Mario Bros. U (2012), and almost all of the Super Mario Spinoff series like Super Mario Party, the Mario Sports games, and Mario Kart. They are not directly enemies in some of the games, in Super Mario 64 as an example, a Lakitu is seen “filming” Mario, he is basically the camera that follows the main protagonist. Lakitu are sometimes playable characters, the first time in Paper Mario (2000) and later in Mario Kart 7 (2011) and Mario Kart 8 (2014).
