Kyo Kusanagi, one of the main protagonists in the King of Fighters games by SNK got redesigned multiple times during the 20 years of the series and the developers wanted to have multiple versions of him in the game that are based on his older fighting style and variations of it. Born were Kyo-1 and Kyo-2 in The King of Fighters’99. Both returned in The King of Fighters 2002 and its remake in 2009.

The third Kyo clone, just named Kusanagi and more looking like an “Evil Kyo” than the other ones is not actually a clone but was made with Chizuru‘s Magic. He joined the series as unlockable mid-boss in The King of Fighters 2003 and returned in the console version of The King of Fighters Neowave (2004) and the 2002 remake as the third Kyo Clone there to form a team with the other two. Kusanagi was also featured in the KOF shoot’em up games.

All three share Kyo Kusanagi’s moveset from 94-97 but also have a few unique moves.
