“This portrait of Shao Kahn is inspired by the Vigo painting from Ghostbusters 2. Its an idea I had for a long time but wanted more confidence in myself before attempting it. It came together rather quickly probably because of the similar color palette. I struggled a bit with his ab and leg muscles. Done in Photoshop CS5 with Wacom Tablet.”

“Shao Kahn from Mortal Kombat 9 in all his quarter thieving glory.
Probably the first video game character ever to openly tell you that you suck at video games.”

Shao Kahn is the final boss in multiple of the Mortal Kombat games and one of the most known main antagonist from fighting games in general alongside M.Bison and Heihachi Mishima.

He debuted with all his funny mannerisms in Mortal Kombat II in 1993 where he was one of the hardest fighting game bosses seen so far and reprised that role in the sequel Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) and the reboots or re-tellings Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (2005) and Mortal Kombat 9 (2011). He was defeated multiple times but you know how it is in Mortal Kombat..you can defeat them..you can FINISH them..but somehow the characters have always a chance to be in a future Mortal Kombat.
