Kaede is a playable character and protagonist in the Last Blade fighting games by SNK that were released in 1997 and 1998.  Kaede did also represent The Last Blade series in the crossover fighting game NeoGeo Battle Coliseum (2005) and was a striker for Ryo Sakazaki in The King of Fighters 2000.

Kaede is considered to be the main protagonist in the Last Blade series and was inspired by the design and appearance of the “Super Sayan” transformation in the Dragon Ball Z manga. Normally he has black hair but can change into the “Awakened” status which changes his hair color as well as his animations, strength, speed and moves.
