2001 was a very important year for video games. The Playstation 2 was released worldwide in 2001, the Nintendo Gamecube and the XBOX, the first Microsoft game console followed later in the year, but the Sega Dreamcast Production was stopped. Big games like Final Fantasy X, Halo: Combat Evolved, Onimusha Warlords, Dead or Alive 3, Luigi’s Mansion, and Super Smash Bros Melee were released for the new consoles while the Dreamcast got Sonic Adventures 2 and Phantasy Star Online outside Japan. The PC got a ton of great games in 2001 like Baldurs Gate II, Black & White and Civilization III among others and the arcades got more fighting games like Tekken 4 and King of Fighters 2001. Game characters like Master Chief from Halo, Tidus and Yuna from Final Fantasy X and Phoenix Wright are popular till today.
