Captain Commando is a Beat’em Up with a futuristic setting made by Capcom and released in 1991 for the first time.

The game can be played by up to four players and sees Captain Commando and his Commando Companions fighting against super villains to protect the Earth.

The game plays actually in Metro City , known from Final Fight. Its first home console port arrived 4 years after the arcade release with Captain Commando on the  Super Nintendo. This version allowed only 2 players and had fewer enemies on-screen and downgraded the violence.

A Playstation port followed in Japan only in 1998 and was still not arcade perfect, only up to three players were possible. A more or less arcade perfect port was released as part of the Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 in 2006 for Playstation 2 and Xbox. The Playstation Portable received a similar port as part of the Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed (2006).

Captain Commando, the main protagonist of the game was a playable character in the crossover games Marvel vs. Capcom 1&2 and Namco X Capcom.
