Rain is a character from the Mortal Kombat fighting games and made his playable debut in the console versions of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. In MK Trilogy (1996) he got a complete moveset including own finishing moves.

He returned as a non playable character in the story mode of Mortal Kombat Deception (2004) like almost all MK characters and made a real comeback including a new design and special moves in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. While he was really good in that game, the developers changed his visual design and moveset again for his appearance in Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) though in which he was a downloadable character. He returned in Mortal Kombat X (2015) but was again just an unplayable character who had to be fought in the story mode of the game.

Rain started of as a “red Herring” and was seen in the arcade version of UMK3 but could not be unlocked there, due to him wearing purple clothes and being a Edenian Prince even it was a joke about Purple Rain, a popular song by the Artist formerly known as Prince.

His first appearances were not that interesting, him being just another Ninja pallete swap, but with the time he got a really cool design.
